English conversation classes, Asylum Monologues and film showings are just some of the events that left an impression in 08/09.

The past year has really been eventful for the STAR Leeds group. We have had one of the largest groups of STARs so far and the result has really brought forth the compassion and belief of so many in helping asylum seekers.
From hearing the real story of someone fleeing persecution and seeking refuge in Britain, to debating what the government should be doing to help with the MP for Leeds North West, to a dramatic take on the lives of refugees and asylum seekers living in London in the moving Asylum Monologues, STAR Leeds have had a great year.

There are frequent film showings and English conversation classes for refugees and asylum seekers held in the city that build up a wonderful community spirit that we hope welcomes newcomers to both the STAR group and to the city of Leeds.
STAR would like to thank Crossing Borders for hosting the Asylum Monologues- we eagerly look forward to next year!
