Forum Rules
Responsible/appropriate use
The STAR forum is intended to create an online community for like-minded people. Participants should focus discussions around topics related to their volunteering and treat the subject matters responsibly.
By contributing to the discussion forum you are agreeing that you will not use the forum to post material, or links to material, which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, harmful, inaccurate, abusive, extremist, hateful, harassing, obscene, threatening, racially offensive, lewd, pornographic, in violation of intellectual property rights, rights of confidentiality, or rights of privacy, invasive of a person’s privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. You must not post messages that are vulgar, crude, sexist, racist, homophobic or otherwise discriminatory and/or offensive. You may not use the discussion forums for commercial purposes.
Posting a message with the intention of committing an illegal act or describing violent intentions towards other people and organisations is strictly prohibited.
Etiquette
Please:
- Always treat other users with respect, with the same courtesy as you would talking to someone face to face.
Please refrain from:
- Steering conversations off-topic e.g. holding personal conversations
- Using slang or abbreviations so that the forum is accessible to all users
- Swearing
- Spamming or flooding the forum.
If you feel that someone is breaching etiquette please report to this to the moderator, using the report button, do not respond or retaliate personally.
Safety
Be aware of your privacy. Although we endeavour to ensure that all users have a valid link with STAR please take care what you say about yourself and never post your phone numbers, postal and e-mail address, or bank details.
Do not provide the personal details of somebody else.
Copyrights
By contributing to the forum you grant STAR perpetual, royalty-free, non- exclusive rights to publish your entry on any media. You also grant STAR the right to remove, move to a separate thread or board, modify, adapt, and translate that entry, and make it available to the public worldwide.
Copyright of other material
Do not include any copyright material without the express permission of the copyright holder. STAR does not accept liability for copyright breaches you commit, and will remove any offending entries.
Our liability
Any message posted on our forum expresses only the views of the author of the message and does not necessarily reflect the views of the charity or those of any other person on the forum.
Please note that failure to remove particular material does not constitute an endorsement or acceptance of it by STAR.

Please only provide links to relevant and appropriate websites. If you decide to visit any linked site, you do so at your own risk and it is your responsibility to take all protective measures to guard against viruses or other destructive elements.
Moderation
The forum will be reviewed regularly by the moderator, who will remove any material that is deemed to contravene the forum rules. The moderator will also respond to any complaints registered using the report button.
If you break the forum rules your posting will be removed and you will be contacted by the moderator. If you break these rules for a second time your access to the forum will be restricted and your user access to the STAR website may be removed.
