5 Reasons your Fundraising is Bound to Succeed!
We all know that STAR (sadly) doesn’t run on STAR dust, and needs funds to keep supporting refugees. A new study explains why STARs are on to a winner with their fantastic fundraising!
Here are 5 reasons why the fundraising efforts of your STAR group are bound to succeed.
The evidence is based on the findings of a recent YouGov poll commissioned by the Give More campaign on attitudes of students and the general public to giving to charity.
1. STAR is part of a huge movement of student giving
An amazing 1,450,000 students have given money, time or energy to charity in the last 6 months. That’s equivalent to 58% of 2.5 million students over the age of 18!
Our 5,000 STARs already make an important contribution to this – and with our new committees in place we just know it’s going to keep on growing! Go STARs!
2. 1 in 3 students wants to give more
Nearly 1 in 3 students would give more money, time or energy to charity if asked, but only 1 in 6 have actually been asked!
Don’t be shy of reaching out to people at freshers or asking them to sponsor one of your many fantastic fundraising events – it’s official, there’s a lot of love out there!
3. Non-students care about your fundraising too
A whopping 58% of British adults gave money to charity in 2010/11, so be confident in talking about all your fab work and asking those around you to support you!
Look beyond the usual suspects and remember, STAR is the only student organisation dedicated to supporting refugees!
4. Every little helps…really
Most charitable giving is made up from relatively small amounts given by many people, so don’t feel shy about shaking a bucket, running small fundraisers like cake sales, or asking for small amounts of sponsorship for your Sporty STAR events! All together now, ‘every little helps…’
