Committee Training 2011
Running a STAR group or thinking about starting one next year? Sign up to STAR’s Committee Training in London on 18th June and Newcastle on 21st June!

The deadline to book is Wednesday 8th June.
Who should attend?
If you are going to be on the committee of a STAR group next year or are planning to set up a new STAR group at your university – this is for you! If you are not on the committee come to conference in November.
How much does it cost?
Absolutely nothing! STAR’s summer training for committee members is totally free. If you’ll be running projects and events in 2011-12 then join other STARs to learn about refugees and gain skills in running student groups, raising awareness, volunteering and campaigning.
In some circumstances we can provide travel bursaries. Please contact STAR National to discuss this.
What do I get?
- Learn about the needs of refugees, the basics of the asylum process and the latest trends
- Find out how to take action for STAR
- Get information on the STAR calendar for the year, including training and campaign actions
- Meet other STARs from around the UK
- Get advice on running an effective student group
- Develop your campaigning, awareness-raising and volunteering skills
It’s a great idea to plan ahead if you want your group to make an impact next year, and the best place to do that is at our annual summer training event.
How can I book my place?
Please download and complete the booking form and send to the email address on the form by 1st June.
There are at least three training places reserved for every STAR group. Contact us if more members would like to attend to see if there is space. Please make sure all new committee members know about this and have the opportunity to attend!
