Get £50 - £1000 funding for your STAR group!

Do you need more money for a volunteering project, campaign or event? J49 have funding for you!

What is it?

Junction49.co.uk is a website for young people to share and devlop ideas to make a difference. They have funding awards of up to £1000 for a positive community project.

This can have direct benefit to individuals (such as a volunteering project), be a campaign or raise awareness of a particular issue or cause.

It’s really easy to apply – submit an idea to their website (100-250 words or so). If they like it, they’ll get in touch about what you’ll spend the money on.

They have had a lack of applications in the past, and they’re really keen to get more – anyone who applies has a very good chance of getting funding.

What do I do next?

Pitch your idea on Junction49’s funding webpage. For more info on what activities they’re looking for, how to pitch an idea to them and how they judge ideas, go to:

http://www.junction49.co.uk/pages/win_funding/

The deadline for posting ideas is 31st December 2008.

Who can apply? What are the criteria?

  • Your STAR group must be based in England.
  • The idea must be submitted by someone aged 16-25, as J49 are a youth volunteering organisation. If the leader of the activity is over 25, another STAR member can submit the application, ‘in partnership’ with them – they don’t want to exclude a STAR group from applying because it happens to be led by a mature student.
  • J49 want to fund new activities, but funding can be used if the activity is growing, becoming more frequent, changing in focus or scope, etc.
  • The funding can be used for a wide range of things, e.g. training, equipment, awareness-raising, event publicity.

Note: You cannot apply if you are a student at one of Junction49’s partner universities (a list is included on the website, which includes Birmingham and De Montford), although specific offers will be open to you.
