It’s coming: STAR National Conference 2007

Think it’s impossible to spend a weekend in London for just £25? Well, you’re mistaken! STAR’s annual National Conference is one of the best weekends you’ll have all year, and this November it’s in central London.

Date: Saturday 10 – Sunday 11th November 2007
Place: Human Rights Action Centre, 17-25 New Inn Yard, London EC2A 3EA

For £25, you get food, crashpad accommodation on Saturday night, speakers ranging from MPs and journalists to refugees with personal experiences to share, workshops, a Question Time panel and a lively party to celebrate the fact that this is our tenth conference.

If you don’t think that’s enough, you’ll get to spend the weekend with students, young people, and young refugees and asylum seekers from all across the UK who have the same concerns as you. Make new friends, learn new skills, share ideas and knowledge and change things for the better!

Conference is open to students, young people, refugees and asylum seekers from 16 – 25 years old, and here’s who you can expect to meet there:-

  • STAR members from some of the student groups in universities all over the UK.
  • Contributors from some of the most well-respected human rights organizations in the UK – see contributors
  • MPs, journalists, writers, refugees, asylum seekers…
  • Non-STAR members. Never heard of STAR before? Great! You’re more than welcome at Conference and you’ll find we’re a friendly bunch.

We have a limited number of bursaries for those who can’t afford the Conference fee, and anyone with a refugee experience is welcome for free.

Visit the Conference 2007 section of the website to find out more.
