Ready, Set, Run STAR Cardiff, Run!

STAR Cardiff are running a half marathon for STAR with a secret bonus for all you budding sponsors!

We all know that joining STAR is a fantastic way to do something amazing in your local community to campaign, raise awareness and support refugees. It’s also a good excuse to dress up and fundraise! Because let’s face it, covering yourself in tin foil or attaching a yellow cardboard star to your head while running isn’t the kind of thing you without a good cause. Hazel Hathway and Simone Miche from the amazing STAR Cardiff obviously thought the same. Not only have they decided to put their trainers on and run a half marathon on the 16th October for STAR National, they have also promised to hand over the decision of what they wear to the individual who makes the largest donation*!

The money Hazel and Simone raise will make a big difference to STAR and will be a great way to kick start the new academic year for the group. STAR Cardiff have already put on successful fundraising events such as Refugee Rhythms, an evening of food, music and dance, with contributions from asylum seekers and refugees who attend the drop-in centre in Cardiff where the group volunteers. Last year STAR Cardiff won a whopping four awards in recognition of their achievements, as well as being held up as an example of students helping their local communities in the national press.

If you want to help Cardiff STAR continue their amazing work or if you have a good fancy dress idea for Hazel and Simone, donate now!

*within reason!

If you are thinking of planning your own fundraising event, get in touch with STAR National for support and some other great ideas!
