Who will run your STAR group next year?

Spring is here! Have you thought about who will run your STAR group next year?

Here’s everything you need to know to pass on your beloved STAR group to a new committee.

Please tell STAR national who your new group leader is so we can stay in touch!

How to Handover

A smooth handover is incredibly important to ensure your STAR group continues to make a difference to refugees and build on your achievements this year.

You need to:

  1. Find some wonderful people to take on responsibility
  2. Help prepare them to run the group next year

We have plenty of resources to help you do this:

Key things to remember when handing over to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything.

Handover Notes

The best way to handover to the next committee will be by writing things down! So we’ve included an example of some handover notes:

  1. Adapt and fill in for what is suitable for your group
  2. Give a copy to the new committee
  3. Send a copy to STAR National

Please send STAR National the names and emails of your new committee when they’re elected – we’ll need to contact them to sort out affiliation to STAR for next year!

STAR Committee Training, June

STAR’s FREE summer training for committee members is mid-June (date to be confirmed).

All committee members for 2010-11 are invited to attend to:

  • Learn about refugees issues
  • Find out how to take action for STAR
  • Meet other STARs from around the UK
  • Get advice on running an effective student group
  • Develop your campaigning, awareness-raising and volunteering skills

Here’s what happened at last year’s training.
